On April 16 and 17, Abidjan was the scene of a major event: CAP GREEN.
Initiated by the Confédération Générale des Entreprises de Côte d'Ivoire (CGECI) in collaboration with Africa Energy Transition Services (AETS), this meeting brought together the most eminent national and international players in a concerted effort to initiate concrete change. More than just an initiative, CAP GREEN embodies an unwavering commitment to its members and to tackling pressing climate challenges.
With the support of global leaders such as Total Energies, Société Générale, EfD, Rabobank, GreenBond Corporation and Coca-Cola, CAP GREEN has established itself as the focal point for companies from diverse backgrounds. This first edition of CAP GREEN addressed several key themes, guiding participants towards a low-carbon economy, in line with Côte d'Ivoire's Nationally Determined Contribution (NDC) and the economic challenges posed by climate change. The World Bank's alarming projections of the potential impact on real GDP by 2050 underline the urgency of action.
Conferences focused on climate finance and energy transition for the private sector, turning challenges into opportunities through mechanisms such as green bonds, green loans and carbon credits. Cross-cutting sessions also explored technological and financial levers for a low-carbon energy transition, while sector workshops offered in-depth discussions on the specific challenges faced in areas such as industry, agribusiness and green infrastructure. These workshops provided a unique platform for the emergence of innovative and collaborative solutions for a greener, more resilient economy.
The event attracted a diverse range of speakers, from renowned researchers to representatives of financial institutions and the public sector.
Together, participants laid the foundations for a sustainable future. A huge thank you to all those who contributed to the success of CAP GREEN 2024!
