On Thursday 20 February 2025, the Sofitel Hotel in Abidjan hosted a major preparatory workshop on voluntary carbon markets in Africa, organised by Environment for Development (EfD) and Africa Energy Transition Services (AETS).

Eric Kacou, AETS senior partner and professor, brings his Wharton students closer to Rwandan leadership
On 15 January 2025, President Paul Kagame welcomed a delegation of MBA students from the Wharton School to Urugwiro Village in Kigali. The students, who had come as part of a modular course entitled ‘Conflict, Leadership, and Change: Lessons from Rwanda’, were guided by professors Katherine Klein and Eric Kacou, senior partner AETS, as they immersed themselves in the Rwandan experience.

Exploring the Potential and Challenges of Voluntary Carbon Markets in the Global South: AETS commitment to the EfD Project
Nairobi, 1-2 October 2024 - The international workshop organised by Environment for Development (EfD) in Nairobi marked a decisive turning point in the project to explore voluntary carbon markets (VCMs) in Africa. This project, funded by Canada's International Development Research Centre (IDRC), aims to strengthen the capacity of African countries to develop and implement effective carbon markets. A plays a crucial role as the country team for Côte d'Ivoire, Morocco and ECOWAS, and is responsible for the various aspects of the project in these countries.

From 6 to 8 August 2024, Abidjan hosted a decisive workshop for West Africa's climate future. Organised by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Commission, the event brought together representatives from member states, regional institutions and carbon market experts to lay the foundations for a standardised carbon credit market. This initiative aims to make West Africa a key player in the global carbon credit market, while meeting the urgent need to mitigate the effects of climate change in a particularly vulnerable region.

BACK TO CAP GREEN 2024
CAP GREEN, initiated by CGECI in collaboration with AETS, was held in Abidjan on April 16 and 17, bringing together major national and international players to take concrete action against climate change. This event marks a strong commitment to a low-carbon economy, aligned with Côte d'Ivoire's NDC.
